This tale is somewhat of a scavenger hunt while managing to be an unfolding mystery and perfectly capturing what I believe enemies to lovers should be. It's made abundantly clear that the only way she will be able to avoid a life of running from her husband is if she complies and hunts down the stones to unlock the arch. That is until they find themselves cursed again this time with the curse from her beloved tale of The Archer and The Fox, with Apollo revived from his sleep and unable to stop thinking about hunting Evangeline down. Her husband, Prince Apollo, is in a state of suspended sleep and her only goal is to revive him.
Jacks keeps asking Evangeline if she will open the Arch of Valory, which she is destined to do with her being prophesied as the key, but with his sneaky history of half truths and ulterior motives she's promised herself she won't trust him again. The first page picks back up almost immediately from the end of the first book, and if it's been a while since you've read it some of the details might be a little fuzzy, but they're subtly referenced in a way that jogs your memory without making you feel it was pointless to read the first.
